Review: Qantas Sydney-Auckland-New York QF3 business class
Jun 16, 2023, 02:46 PMYeah, that sounds like a superior option (only slightly longer, better service, superior food and lounges, fraction of the price).

Review: Qantas Sydney-Auckland-New York QF3 business class
Jun 16, 2023, 01:28 PMReally needs a proper comparison with NZ equivalent, before you can conclude that this s the best way to go SYD to NY.

Up close with Qantas’ all-new A350 business class
Feb 25, 2023, 01:58 PMYes, they are reminiscent of office cubicles a la Dilbert. But to be fair, there is not a lot more you can do to the modern J seat - it's pretty good now. QF should just work on improving its appalling soft product.

Time travelling in Seoul: the city’s 9 best modern and historic sites
Feb 19, 2023, 11:47 AMThat's a good idea but it involves flying Qantas so that's a NO from me. I'll stick to my ABQ policy. Having said that, Seoul is a great city, fantastic food and interesting sights obviously, but it also struck me as a very cultured ity.

Review: Starlux Airbus A350 business class
Feb 19, 2023, 11:44 AMVery much like China Airlines J class, except the table is very stable on CI.

Virgin Australia launches Cairns–Tokyo flights
Dec 14, 2022, 05:41 PMYep, I reckon Mr Joyce is none too happy. I, on the other hand, would be very happy to pay one-third of QF's flat bed fare for VA's limited J product ex SYD. What a bargain, with the bonus of decent customer service thrown in. Think of the status credits you'd earn - requalify SG in one go.

Virgin Australia launches Cairns–Tokyo flights
Dec 14, 2022, 05:34 PMIf the price from say Sydney is $3000 versus $10000 direct on QF, then I'll choose VA in a heartbeat.

Cathay Pacific adds The House lounge to its Sydney options
Nov 08, 2022, 02:03 PMNot sure why anyone would prefer the QF SYDi J lounge. It is execrable.

How to unlock the best Virgin Australia Boeing 737 seats
Oct 06, 2022, 10:25 AMI'm really happy with the premium stuff on VA. I can buy a great value J seat if I can justify it, and it always comes with a PDB, a nice meal and lots more drinks (on top of the PDB). As a Plat, I also enjoy priority boarding that works all the time (unlike QF), and the lounges., etc ...

Review: Air New Zealand’s nonstop Auckland-New York flight
Sep 23, 2022, 11:26 AMYeah, the experience on an inaugural flight is not usually representative because the top team is selected, everyone is happy, and there are one-off goodies (like the PJs) that improve the experience. And the airline freebie is always J. Would be interested in a review of a random flight a few we...

Virgin Australia unlocks Singapore Airlines premium economy rewards
Jun 27, 2022, 03:04 PMDdante - you have to turn on "Use Velocity Points" on the VA booking screen, then that immediately opens up all the international destinations.

Inside Virgin Australia’s secret invitation-only ‘Beyond’ lounges
Apr 08, 2022, 01:52 PMBert, how do you earn 1800 status credits from two return (J) domestic flights? 400 maybe. Did you offer to fly the plane for free?

Qantas reopens Sydney, Melbourne international business lounges
Mar 14, 2022, 03:04 PMDoes Qantas really think its strategy of deliberately running down the condition of its business lounges so that customers will fly more to gain WP and Flounge access, will be effective?

Review: Virgin’s ‘new concept’ Boeing 737 business class
Feb 05, 2022, 09:50 AMVA crew do enforce. QF crew are too lazy to do so.

Review: Virgin Australia Boeing 737 domestic economy class
Jun 17, 2021, 09:07 AMCan't believe commenters are focused on the in-flight snack as an important issue. If you want a snack, grab a $1 chocolate bar from Coles/Woolies in town. I think it is the most trivial factor in deciding who I choose to fly with. In some aspects (price, customer service, priority boarding, more...
