• Yep bad fleet planning. Good time to let QR have an extra frequency out of Melbourne.

  • Sad day QF have always had a MEL link with LHR, even in the 70s QF001 originated in Melbourne.  Dreadful to have to fly J class on a 737 to connect in PER and no PE available at all ex-MEL to LHR even via SIN. Forget SYD, dreadful transfer. This move just strengthens the ME and Asian carrier...

  • Has anyone noticed that from the end of July 2024, Melbourne loses its direct LHR flight; QF009/010 flights, only conx  are over PER/SIN/SYD. Well, QF is known as, AIR SYDNEY, Glad we have Qatar SQ/CX and others who certainly enjoy a lot of loyalty.

  • I certainly won't make the cut unless I can get UG seat on QF001/19June, SYD/LHR with points, which is in not going to happen only 3F available at this stage! Crazy paid $25k for 2 seats last year. Flying to SCL in March and they want $12k each return J. Still good to see QF doing well.

  • Great news, just did MEL/PER/MEL J class - main course, then pudding, chocolate bar, lindt Choclate and then an ice cream WOW! Would have liked a starter/salad and a piece of cheese, too much sweet stuff!

  • I am QF Platinum and flew EK in November MEL/NBO/MEL, J class service was okay but F&B not up to QF standard, main meal was served in china doggy dishes. Midnight departure out NBO, 777, 2x2x2 seating, very difficult to sleep. Overall QF service on the 787 PER/FCO/PER in August light years ah...

  • Interesting article,  but I am not quite sure what the big deal is about doors on the J class seats. We just flew back from Rome on QF and the J class seats were great. In fact the flight to and from Rome was superb.

  • The timings on the new flights are pretty ordinary 1500 dep from Perth and arrival JNB 2015. Rules out connections to most SA and reginal cities.

  • We are flying J to Rome on the 1st August Mel/Per and then Per/Fco. Wondering if we will get access to the international J lounge

  • I am bit worried about seating  as my wife and I are flying out of Perth to Rome on the 1 August and the only seats available are 11E and F, experienced these seats once before on JFK/LAX and PE pax used these toilets all the time and it was a a real pain. Hoping to be able to move further f...

  • Well this should be welcome news but both the the QF J  Intl lounges in Sydney and Melbourne are pretty average. The food is lackluster and the ambience - especially the Melbourne lounge is pretty poor. I have a soft spot for QF and enjoy the onboard J and PE service but they really need to ...

  • Sad day; joined QF in 1974 as Flight Steward and had many a happy trip on her. In later life had the opportunity to fly many times as passenger in P,J and Y. My last trip in late February was on OEJ to JNB and home. Great aircraft!

  • Just had a friends son arrive home last night on QR and they had to pay $5300 one way from FCO to MEL. Had was booked to fligh home on EK but flight cancelled they gave him a full refund. No wonder QR is ramping up capacity with the demand and prices.

  • Agree it is going to back fire on QF if they keep it up.

  • This was never going to happen all spin. There is a market for ultra long haul flights to cities such as New York and London.
