Asiana brings back domestic business class
After an 18-year hiatus, Asiana will relaunch business class services on domestic flights within South Korea.

Asiana Airlines will reportedly resume offering business class on domestic flights next month, almost two decades after the South Korean carrier scrapped its premium offering in late 2003.
The Star Alliance member will make business class available from November 5 on Airbus A330 and Airbus A321 jets flying between capital city Seoul and resort island Jeju, often consider the country's own version of Hawaii, reports South Korean news agency Yonhap.
Seoul-Juju has long been the world's busiest air route, with over a hundred flights per day – usually no more than 15 minutes apart – making the 70 minute journey.
Asiana's motive is to boost its bottom line in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The airline is due to be taken over by long-rime rival Korean Airlines across 2022-2024 in a US$1.6 billion deal which would see the two South Korean full-service carriers merge to become one of the world's ten biggest airlines.
The Korean Airlines brand will eventually replace that of Asiana, which will also leave the Star Alliance group, in turn strengthening Korean Airlines' trans-Pacific joint venture with Delta Air Lines.
As previously reported, the Airbus A380s of both Asiana and Korean Airlines will be retired after the merger, along with Korean Airlines' Boeing 747-8 fleet.
