Cathay Pacific compensation for non-working IFE
May 31, 2019, 11:31 AMI haven't had non-working IFE, but I have had non-working wi-fi twice now on A350s (on day flights when I wanted to work) and received 10k Asiamiles as compensation each time.

Which FF to put onto ticket?
Oct 19, 2018, 08:49 AMI do this in reverse - show my CX Gold card at Qantas lounges - and they are fine with it. But if the status is not on your ticket, you do need your card with you. And don't do what I did once and bring an expired card, they need this year's one!

Duty Free Hong Kong
Oct 11, 2018, 10:17 AMJust recently they seem to have ditched the liquids check when boarding flights to Australia from HKG. My flights in June had the check, by September it was gone and no sign in October either.

How to spend a weekend in Hong Kong?
Aug 21, 2018, 04:15 PMNot off the beaten track exactly, but I love the Hong Kong History Museum. It's got some great displays that give you a real feel for Hong Kong through the 20th century. Go and see the remains of the Kowloon Walled City and have lunch at one of the many Thai restaurants in Kowloon City.Go and get...

Visiting Cathay Pacific's The Pier business class lounge, HKG
Jul 05, 2018, 08:05 AMOriginally Posted by blingwadThe pier is a dark dungeon with average food. If your going to spend 9 hours in darkness on a plane enjoy the natural light of the QF lounge and the Deck. What? The Pier has floor to ceiling windows along the whole of its length and glass walls to get that light into...

Lounge Access - Melbourne
Jun 04, 2018, 09:25 PMQantas lounge is still the best, for food and space, although I have been to the Amex lounge once and it gives it a run for its money. The CX lounge has nice dumplings and they will call your flight, so I tend to head there after spending some time at the others.

Hong Kong transit - which Cathay Pacific lounge to visit?
May 30, 2018, 08:03 AMDefinitely the Pier First. The restaurant is fantastic. If you are travelling next Wednesday, I'll be on CX134 with you and also transiting, you can guest me in if you'd like...

Cathay Pacific Hong Kong arrivals lounge access
Mar 04, 2018, 10:58 AMTha arrivals lounge is very small and crowded and the wait for a shower is often nearly an hour. That said, it is invaluable when arriving on CX178 at 7am. Nothing like a shower to start the day, and they'll iron your shirt too. Also, no one in my office starts until 9:30am so I can wait for a sh...

Melbourne international priority pass
Jan 01, 2018, 10:29 AMThat's weird. I've used my Priority Pass at Bar Pulpo (the Movida one) at Melbourne Airport in early December. They had a machine then. I would complain to Priority Pass. They should have a manual system if the machine is down.

CX104 - Lounge Access
Dec 04, 2017, 12:35 PMThat may be a typo: I catch CX 104 all the time and the Cathay lounge stays open until CX 104 departs. When it isn't daylight saving, CX104 departs an hour earlier, that may be the reason for the confusion. Although the Qantas lounge is generally the better option in any case.

Qantas lounge in HKG
Aug 20, 2017, 08:07 AMIt's very nice. I think it's better than the Wing if your flight leaves from one of the low numbered gates. I would rank it below the Pier though, and about even with the Bridge.

Bumped up to Velocity Gold early!
Aug 07, 2017, 01:44 PMSame thing happened to me with Cathay Pacific. I think sometimes if they see Gold-level activity, they decide to upgrade you early. You still have to fly enough within the next 12 months if you want to maintain Gold, so it just brings that forward as far as the airline is concerned.

Best Over Night Carry On Roller
Jul 28, 2017, 10:27 AMMy Antler died on my last trip, the top part of the handle snapped off and the end result was beyond repair. It was 12 years old and heavily used but I was still a little disappointed. I was surprised to see that the majority of carry on bags now are 4 wheel spinners. I don't like them at al...

VA MEL-HKG inaugural mini-review
Jul 14, 2017, 09:01 AMInteresting. I hate that Qantas only serves 1 main and snack on their HK flights, a 9 hour flight that you've paid $1000 for justifies 2 meals. Also mid-flight cup noodles are definitely available on Cathay. The loadings are a bit of a worry though. I have noticed over many trips on Cathay and Qan...
