• Hi all - I'm booked at the very back of the bus on EK shortly, all on a QF flight number (EK407 + connections to Europe, return). The EK website says "cannot purchase an upgrade" but has anyone had any luck either calling them or asking at the airport? Would being QF platinum make any difference ...

  • Arrivals Lounge - FRA

By referring to emerald it sounds like you'll be arriving one a Oneworld flight into Terminal 2? In that case the answer is "nope"!There's a Sheraton and a Holiday Inn at the airport if you want to get a proper room. And there are pay showers air-side in Terminal 1 if you can get there.

  • I'm 87 status credits from lifetime Gold, so I should get there soon. I'm pretty sure I've got at least 18 months Qantas Club membership still to run - it's been sitting there for many years since I last hit Gold. Obviously I'll never need this again.A while back I think someone suggested Qanta...

  • QF status on Iberia/Air Nostrum

    Aug 15, 2022, 06:49 PM

Hi all - any idea if QF status credits are earned on an Iberia-marketed flight which is listed as "Operated by Air Nostrum for Iberia"? Apparently Air Nostrum is a "Oneworld Affiliate" and the QF partner earning site suggested the relevant flight (IB8707) would accrue status. The call centre didn...

  • Welcome to Country?!

It would be nice if they focussed on getting us from A to B safely and comfortably, rather than indulging in fashionable tokenism. The maps in the QF lounges showing various language groups are fascinating. If they really feel the need, simply tell us whose country we're flying to or over. Make ...

  • Worldwide airport transfers

Very. And I've used them in places like Baku and Almaty, as well as the slightly more mainstream like Moscow. They book with a local provider (so they're effectively an agent) but that means the do the legwork of finding someone reliable and dealing with payment.

Sun Transfers will sort you out in even the most obscure third world places.

  • You're using a Huawei phone? In that case I wouldn't bother, mate. You might as well just give PLA Unit 61398 remote access administrator rights! ;-)

  • That's pretty poor if you've paid for it. Contrast Lufthansa, which if you've paid for an upgrade, is happy to give you Miles & More award and status miles at the business rate.

  • No more Mk1 skybed!

    Jun 07, 2019, 09:07 AM

Wow, this almost makes me feel old. I remember when the Skybed first came out and was discussed in hushed tones... And the jealously when a colleague actually got to travel on it!

  • Never underestimate how stressful and intimidating airports and flying generally are for those that do it only once or twice a year (if that). I keep mine in a zip-up travel wallet which lives in the front zip-up pocket of my rollaboard. But even then - between dragging the trolley, opening the...

  • Turkish Airlines

I've flow a lot on TK in business and economy - mostly 3-5 hour sectors. Great food, excellent service. Haven't yet been through the new IST airport - Ataturk went from one of my favourites to one of my least favourites over the last 10 years due to a massive increase in the number of passenger...

  • While keeping lounge access would be very nice, that sounds more like lifetime platinum than lifetime gold! When this question came up a while back, I suggested that a reasonable compromise would be reduced qualification for platinum - at most equal to platinum renewal. Even better would be for t...
