Air New Zealand's Sky Couch concept - does it work?
Apr 24, 2019, 10:54 PMHello fellow travellers, anyone got good insights into the sky couch concept of AirNZ? Specifically, as a solo traveller, does it work as basically a lay-flat bed? Secondly, is it better worth paying extra over and above what a Premium Economy seat gives in terms of space and comfort?

Using Qantas Points on first class flights to the USA
Feb 27, 2019, 02:24 AMI find it's easier to find one way classic award flights using Qantas points in First Class. Last year I booked Perth to Manchester UK using QFF points and an EK A380 all the way in First. Next week I've got a one-way from Seattle to Perth via Dubai. 777 on first leg and then A380 into Perth. ...

Qantas Airbus A380: 12A or 12E
Feb 17, 2019, 05:29 AMAvoid the back row in the centre. Can't recall the seat number? There's a fan or somesuch device that cycles on and off behind the bed and is quite distracting if you're trying to sleep.

Malabo! That's Right, Malabo.
Feb 14, 2019, 01:20 AMI'd forgotten about Ethiopian Airlines. They did fly in and a few guys living in Thailand were coming through to EG using them - so a good option from Australia. Into Dubai or Joberg and then out to Malibo via Addis Adaba.

Malabo! That's Right, Malabo.
Feb 13, 2019, 03:28 PMCongratualtions. I worked in EG several times in 2008-11. Flew in via Paris on Air France, then a local charter to get back to the mainland at Bata. I don't recall any difficulties but the company i was contracting to 'facilitated' the process at the local airport in Malabo. They have a very ser...

Difference between Hilton in Australia and USA
Jan 20, 2019, 09:53 AMOriginally Posted by GBRGB These things are always subjective, if you stayed at Hilton Cairns or Darwin you would probably think the opposite, poor product and average service, not even a bottle of water in the fridge, just terrible for what they say is 4-5 Stars, they obviously put a lot more e...

Difference between Hilton in Australia and USA
Jan 18, 2019, 03:05 AMWhy is there such a large differance in the product offering between Hilton hotels in Australia and Hilton hotels in the USA? In Australia, I've stayed in Hilton hotels in Perth, Sydney and Melbourne and they're always excellent. Specifically with good lounges (or vouchers for food and drinks) a...

Additional 'perks' for Qantas Lifetime Gold
Dec 05, 2018, 10:17 PMI made LTG in about 12 years of travel in early 40s. Probably a lot of folks do. I still had 20+ years of busines travel at that time. I still have 10 to go; and all it meant for loyalty to me is that I immediately dropped Qantas as my 1st preference and jumped across to Air NZ and Star Alliance...

Cost of retaining Platinum
Sep 14, 2018, 04:08 AMSame happened to me this year after about 13 years on Platinum. They did give me a free year last year (2017) as I hadn't flown them much in 2016. I'm now back at Lifetime Gold. The one and only downside is not being able to get into the First lounges when I'm at Heathrow, HK or Sydney. So I ...

AFP Engagements on Domestic Flights
Sep 11, 2018, 03:10 AMIMHO, there is a culture in Australia of over the top Officialdom from even the most minor people in even the slightest positions of Power, I think it harks back to when you were all criminals off boats and "Authority" was used under the slightest pretext. I've noticed this across many situation...

Qantas 747-400 which version?
Jul 07, 2018, 06:28 AMHi folks, I'm travelling in J on QF76 from Vancouver to Sydney on Thursday 12/07. My question, is there anyway to find out if the Plane is a 4-class (with old First section down the front) or a more common 3-class with no First section? Reason I ask is I'm in row 3 which is a First class seat o...
