How do I find out exactly which plane will be used on my flights?
Sep 06, 2011, 03:20 PMI don't think this info is readily available as airlines change their planes according to their needs (for other aircraft breakdowns etc.)

Is there really such a thing as an 'international warranty' on laptops and sm...
Sep 06, 2011, 03:19 PMApple's international warranty is truly international. Even if you bought an original iPhone in the USA when they weren't sold in Australia, Apple Australia would arrange to have it fixed by sending it to a US repair centre and getting it back to Australia at no cost to you.

If I use my iPhone navigation app overseas will it use data and if so what ar...
Aug 29, 2011, 06:42 PMIt depends. Which app is it?Expensive ($30+) GPS navigation apps where you have pre-purchased a country map should not need to stream map data off the internet, but the safest way to use them would be to put your phone into airplane mode to disable the possibility of it using data. The GPS positio...

Is there a device that will turn a Hotel ethernet broadband cable internet fe...
May 30, 2011, 10:14 PMDownside of that, of course, is that your laptop does have to be connected to the Ethernet the whole time... I think the $149 investment in an Airport Express is pretty worth it for the everlasting convenience of having perfect reception Wi-Fi throughout the hotel room/suite :-)

Is there a device that will turn a Hotel ethernet broadband cable internet fe...
May 30, 2011, 06:17 PMI've never encountered a hotel that has been able to block travel routers. It'd require considerable effort on their part to do so without accidentally blocking other devices. The only info they get from the device connected to their Ethernet is a short string of numbers called a MAC ID -- it allo...

Is there a device that will turn a Hotel ethernet broadband cable internet fe...
May 30, 2011, 05:19 PMHi Ben, absolutely -- and in fact we wrote an article about this recently. I personally use an Apple Airport Express, which works great -- you just have to remember to install the software on your computer before you set off on your trip, because you need it to set the router up when you get...

Delayed flight "not fit for the purpose of which it was sold"?
Mar 11, 2011, 09:02 AMAgreed, Vaniggy, it seems to me that airlines should definitely offer the option of a refund if their flight departure is substantially delayed. It is, after all, a 'defective product' in my opinion. They do say in their contract "To the extent permitted by applicable laws", so they are obviously...

Delayed flight "not fit for the purpose of which it was sold"?
Mar 10, 2011, 05:47 PMI put the question to Office of Fair Trading NSW, and a spokesperson responded (I have deleted some stuff that's completely irrelevant to your case):The Australian Consumer Law is a national law which commenced on 1 January 2011. The law initiated consumer guarantees applying to services.Services...

What's the worst experience you've had with a flight attendant?
Feb 06, 2011, 08:20 PMMy worst experience was with a Virgin Blue flight attendant, who clicked her fingers in front of my face (about 5cm from my nose) because I wasn't paying sufficient attention to her safety demonstration (because of course, I don't know how to do up my seatbelt, or that the life jacket is under my...

do you think its better to fold or roll when packing clothes?
Dec 13, 2010, 03:35 PMRolling does seem to be more space-efficient than folding, for some reason.

How to find GOOD restaurants nearby?
Nov 25, 2010, 04:31 PMGood point Kat. Also I recently downloaded the buUuk iPhone app which has a reasonably good database of restaurants, and you can view ones near you, sorted by rating. I think it's mostly covering the Asia-Pacific region though, not Europe or US.Of course, in Sydney and Melbourne there's also the ...

OK someone here might know the answer to this.
Nov 09, 2010, 10:38 PMIt takes a bit to get your head around Irene, especially the fact that an airline can "print points" as much as it likes -- but the thing is those points have to be able to turned back into tangible rewards; either flights or goodies like coffee machines etc. Also, bear in mind it's not just the a...

Is it normal for employers to knock back internet charges for reimbursement!
Nov 09, 2010, 03:12 PMKate, did the smartphone+SIM allow you to 'tether' it to your laptop for use within the destination country? If so, your management probably has a point -- though you could always say that the speed of the 3G network there was inadequate (as we know it often is in places like the US, where AT&...
