• I have 2 different travel adapters. Number 0 purchased from Qantas Type SWA1.1 has 650W at 220V and 275W at 110V and 1 removable USB port. It is crap as the terminals don't always connect to the power source.Number 1 I received free from an agency. It is rated at 1500W at 240V and has 2 inbuilt U...

  • I have booked business BNE-ADL on the website. No problems and received status credits and points.

  • Luggage - Hard vs Soft Case

    May 09, 2018, 05:14 PM

I have used Samsonite for years both check-in and carry-on. Carry-on's are excellent but relatively expensive. The biggest problem with the check-ins are the zips. However, with Samsonites good warranty they were replaced for nothing.

  • Hertz NeverLost

    Jan 17, 2018, 05:56 PM

I am renting a Hertz car for 6 weeks out of Dallas. I will be travelling through 7 states during that period. Has anyone used the NeverLost gps system? Is it worth the cost?

  • I have flown overseas on QF, CX and SQ metal with Q-tags. No problems as they are just identifiers. Paper tags are placed on the suitcase with the correct destination.

  • Is a Travel Money Card worth it

    Nov 17, 2017, 05:45 PM

When I travelled extensively I always used FX-free credit. I used a Travelex ATM card for small change pulling out US$100 equivalent in one hit to minimise handling fees. The exchange rate on the Travelex was always better than a bank rate. However some ATM's gave a better rate than others? This ...

  • If you fly business on any oneworld flight access to lounges is OK. Status does not count. I am LTS, fly business class irregularly these days and do not worry about status. Access to first lounges is not worth the cost of attaining platinum unless someone else is paying for the flights. Been the...

  • I agree with the statements that platinum is only worth it on overseas One World flights. I held QF platinum for 2 years and it was great to get into the first class lounges. Also the airline staff appeared to treat me like a special customer. Otherwise not worth the spend and chase. Gold is much...

  • Bumped up to Velocity Gold early!

    Aug 09, 2017, 06:43 PM

Generally fly only business class except short haul BNE-SYD. Does not matter how many status credits as I get lounge access through the ticket. This applies to any FF program. From experience Virgin FF has a better customer relationship than Qantas but is limited overseas.

  • Arrival time in BKK is not a question. Sometimes it can take a quarter of the flying time to get from the airport to the hotel. A late night arrival means that road traffic will be quieter.

  • Mercure or Pullman at Albert Park or Pullman on the Park in Melbourne have been recent stays. All are good and very close to train/tram/bus transport.

  • Thanks for all the options. Never tried Air NZ, Etihad or Qatar. Qatar seem to have a better price than Emirates or Etihad.Only Air NZ downside is United connection in the USA. Currently American internal flights are not getting a good wrap. Been to Seoul on Korean business class, liked it. AA ex...

  • I have the advantage of time. I just need to be in Dallas at a certain date but can take time to get there. Qantas is nice and direct but their business cost seems a bit high. Airline quality and cost is the main factor. I have flown AA and their business class is a bit wanting. Air New Zealand t...

  • In September I am flying business class to Dallas. Already flown direct on Qantas. I want to try another route. Happy to have an overnight stay somewhere. Research shows it is possible on Emirates, Etihad, BA, AA, Korean/AA. Any other suggestions. Would prefer to bypass LAX.

  • QF Club membership fee is not worth the money unless you fly a lot in economy. Compare the cost of the occasional overpriced coffee and cake from an airport  concession to the coffee/biscuit that comes with the QF Club membership fee. If flights are a business expense fly business and get in...
