That's very short. Perhaps contact QF to see if you can use points to make up the difference. They have selectively offered people upwards of 100k+ points retaining platinum. But there could be a lot more they want or a cut off where they wont do it with so many needed. But could be worth asking....

Perhaps look at the monthly credit card offers list on this site. ANZ black is an option.If you can manage the spend you can probably get the points you need without having to buy them. Perhaps you can even try to get an upgrade on both sectors.

I dont think all the Qantas call centers are in Oz now. I believe that one might be left in Hobart maybe. But the rest are South Africa, New Zealand and Philippines I believe. Certainly chat is in Philippines as well.
