My understanding is that within a status band, the priority is according to how early you place your request - so for example, of all the platinum FFs that request a seat, the priority will be assigned in order of request date.  

JAL made me store my iPad Air in a locker for takeoff and landing on a flight this week! The flight attendant told me JAL rules only allow an iPad mini to be able to be handheld during takeoff and landing.

I spent a few hours in this lounge on a couple of occasions last year. It's ok, nothing flash and very crowded when I was there (in the middle of the night on both occasions). Had difficulty getting a seat - only space was in the outdoor smoking area when I arrived. There's a review online.

Upstairs on the 747 mini cabin is great especially if you get the exit row window - 14A or K - you have the side storage compartment and don't need to jump over your neighbor to get to the aisle. I agree - the lunch and dinner options in Qantas business can be a bit light on the BNE-SYD vv route - usually a choice of a salad or a soup or a cheese plate. A couple of years ago they only had adapters for the older 30pin style iPhone socket. I had my own 30-pin to lightning adaptor so used the two together to connect my iPhone 5, but the system didn't recognise it. They may have updated things by now.
