John Borghetti leaves Virgin Australia in March as new CEO takes over
Feb 06, 2019, 05:31 PMI was in on the press conference. Paul Scurrah was remarkably non-committal about what he would do or where he would take the airline. No commitment to profitability. No commitment to compete with Qantas. No commitment to open any routes. Handballed a question about privatisation to the chairman ...

Mandarin Oriental's first Beijing hotel to open in 2019
Nov 02, 2018, 02:44 PMWhat happened to the Beijing Mandarin Oriental that was scheduled to open in 2009/10 in the Rem Koolhaas building as part of the CCTV complex? before the NYE fire? My understanding is that it was weeks away from opening, and the fit out virtually completed. Since the structure was not damaged in ...

Flexible economy fares for Qantas, Virgin Australia compared
Aug 29, 2018, 01:55 PMI travel interstate about every three weeks, and never buy anything but the lowest fare - usually Red e-Deal on Qantas - well ahead of time if possible. Occasionally, I have to change, but find it far cheaper to pay the change fee and fare difference on the odd occasions I need to than buy a flex...

What do Qantas first class flyers want from the Singapore lounge?
Oct 10, 2017, 09:34 AMThe question really is about the competition. If you are used to travelling on Singapore Airlines, and using their First Class lounge - then an upgraded section of the Qantas lounge (even if it is one of their best overseas Club Lounges - along with HK) is not really going to cut it.

Australia’s slowest airport WiFi? Try Sydney Airport
Aug 04, 2017, 09:01 AMThat'd be right. I live in Sydney and visit Adelaide monthly. Caught at both ends, Makes Qantas Club WiFi seem acceptable.

Aug 10, 2016, 02:26 PMI don't think the showers are about getting clean - they are about getting refreshed. I remember when I first used a lounge shower at heathrow during a 3 hour layover before moving on to Europe. It made me feel alive for another 5 hours. I can't wait to get showered in the air.

About that queue for the business class loo...
Jul 22, 2016, 11:13 AMMy beef is not so much with the number, but with the size of loo's. They are getting smaller and smaller (Qantas 737 refit for example). Fortunately on the A380 in business those front two loo's are on the large side, suitable for the sleep suit change. Pity the others don't provide this level of...

Qantas baggage check-in for connecting Oneworld airline flights
Jun 15, 2016, 01:10 PMSounds like a boon for using travel agents. I'm not sure of the technicalities, but our travel agent has combined a bunch of flights into one booking, convincing (don't ask me how) Qantas to take over the whole booking originally made on another one world airline. I hate to think what will happe...

Bad decision - will place them firmly at the back of the queue. Their pricing will have to be ultra competitive for this to work.
