Qantas promises to slash Sydney-Canberra flight cancellations
Nov 24, 2017, 08:13 AM“ it's not like these are low cost airfares like on Ryanair or Easyjet”Clearly hasn’t flown VA recently 😂

Qantas CEO says supersonic flights can’t go the distance
Oct 27, 2017, 11:11 AMI’m sure there’s a lot of numbers behind his thinking and it would be all around the economics / what they can sell. Any passegener will want to get to the destination quicker but supersonic jets are like the high speed train furphy that pops up every few years. You won’t be ...

Velocity Global Wallet vs Qantas Cash Review [+Comparison]
Sep 08, 2017, 12:10 PMVelocity Global Wallet is a great product. It's a shame velocity points are useless save more domestic triangle redemptions.

Virgin Australia Melbourne-Hong Kong business class upgrade guide
Mar 28, 2017, 02:27 PMWill be interesting to see if VA / Velocity adopt the same policy of limited (zero) availability for reward upgrades as they do on their other signature routes.

Qantas vs Virgin Australia: best frequent flyer points upgrades
Feb 20, 2017, 03:20 PMThis article got me thinking. I'm in the same situation as you and have found they actually DO NOT exist. Despite it being widely advertised / promoted / communicated. So I contacted the ombudsman who advised I need to lodge a complaint with VA first. I've done that and am not expecting a respons...

Qantas vs Virgin Australia: best frequent flyer points upgrades
Feb 20, 2017, 09:01 AMVery diplomatic review. In my personal experience, Qantas are leagues in front. The conversion rate of points isn't a factor when there's availibility and VA simply don't have availability.

Virgin Australia Velocity Gold flyers lose LAX lounge access
Jan 11, 2017, 03:51 PMYou need to see the forest from the trees. It's not Star Alliance booting VA that everyone is screaming about, it's VA being a hybrid airline with it's destiny in the hands of others, many times with conflicting interest, which in turn effects it's own passengers and by extension, those with Qant...

Virgin Australia Velocity Gold flyers lose LAX lounge access
Jan 11, 2017, 01:33 PMSo the partner gold flying in economy can utilise the Etihad lounge but their own gold frequent flyers are effectively flipped the bird? VA are in self destruct mode. It's their only meaningful international route and they can't even provide for lounge access for their gold passengers.

Virgin Australia mulls 'economy plus' extra legroom rows

When is it acceptable to recline your airplane seat?
Nov 25, 2016, 10:34 AMIn my head I run a 2hr rule for no reclining. If it's longer and it's night time, I'm most likely reclining from the moment the seat belt sign goes off. If it's a day time flight and I'm not sleeping, I wouldn't recline. At the same time, I try not to get in a negative head space if someone reclin...

Virgin Australia 'Fly Ahead': moving to an earlier flight, free
Nov 23, 2016, 04:15 PMI agree that it's a win-win. Also reduces the funnel of passengers in the airport, which in-turn reduces the exposure to delays. Given the chances of them selling the newly freed up seats are limited, I think having it exclusively as an enhancement to high value frequent flyers is actually a good...

Virgin Australia 'Fly Ahead': moving to an earlier flight, free
Nov 23, 2016, 02:53 PMI'm a massive proponent of fly forward. I find it mainly useful, especially on the triangle. I've been caught short a couple of times trying to get to or from Adelaide and Cairns but given I got the flight I had purchased, there were no complaints from me. If they were to alter or limit fly forwa...

Flybuys offers Virgin Australia Gold perks for up to 15 months
Nov 16, 2016, 11:56 AMThey're all about cramming the numbers in. The frequent flyer program seems to be kicking goals but the airline itself is lost and distracted. A platinum friend of mine travelling from Sydney to Melbourne on Monday was stung $70 for a second checked bag. One at 12kg and one at 28kg. (the plat all...
