France’s ban on short domestic flights is now in effect
May 24, 2023, 08:59 PMGood decision by the French to give this a go. Took a TGV from Lyon straight into CDG recently - seats were better than economy and wifi was decent. Makes no sense to fly between Paris and Lyon most of the time. Hope other countries try this out also. We really need high-speed trains between...

Qantas continues Indian expansion with Sydney-Bengaluru flights
Sep 15, 2022, 02:36 PMAt last, Qantas is getting into the southern subcontinent. Have been waiting my whole life for this flight. Great to see local fare like on the Rome route. IndiGo is a solid local partner, since the sad demise of Jet Airways.

Travel hack: have Amazon deliveries sent to your hotel
Jan 28, 2022, 09:15 AMHave been doing this for some years on trips to the US. Beware many hotels charge a holding fee for packages (regardless of whether they are delivered to your room or you pick up at Concierge) - this can be as outrageous as US$10 per package.

Jan 22, 2021, 03:55 PMMany people would love to fly direct SYD/MEL/... to BOM/BLR/MAA. Great that QF is talking about it - will believe it when it happens!

Qantas revamps priority boarding for domestic flights
Nov 22, 2019, 04:21 PMI'll believe it when it happens...and wonder how long they will stick with it. AA, CX, AY and many others do this routinely. Let's hope QFF get same (or better) treatment at home than we get when flying other OW carriers.

Istanbul's new airport opens, Turkish Airlines moving by end of year
Nov 01, 2018, 10:38 PMIST would be a welcome and attractive stopover enough to rival SIN or HKG, easily surpassing Gulf cities. Let's hope for direct flights between Aus East Coast and IST.

Finnair exec: Airbus A350 the "complete package" for comfort, experience
Jun 15, 2016, 04:43 PMThanks for that. I think it was the overall experience including the seat. Old faded and less comfortable seat. Smaller screen with less entertainment choices. Less storage space around me. All in all, much preferred the A350, not surprisingly.

Finnair exec: Airbus A350 the "complete package" for comfort, experience
Jun 10, 2016, 06:30 PMFlew the A350 last month via HKG. Incredibly smooth and comfortable experience. J configuration is similar to CX. The return on the old A330 wasn't anywhere near as good. Will be looking forward to their A350 expansion.

Best tips for sleeping on planes
Feb 25, 2016, 11:51 AMMelatonin works well for me. I also use it for getting back into sync on returning to Australia. Such a shame it's not available in Oz in the required doses. Sonata is supposed to be good for this - used by the military and shift-workers - but we don't have that either in Australia.
