Qantas adds Airbus A321XLR to its fleet
Jun 20, 2019, 08:52 AMI did LHR-TLV on the BA 321 (ex BMI frames) a few years back. Decent plane for that journey. Certainly much nicer then SYD-PER on a 737. I quite like the Airbus.

With new 10in Surface tablet, Microsoft hopes it has an 'iPad killer'
May 21, 2018, 09:28 AMI have had 2 Surface Pro's at my last and my current role. Love them so much, bought the wife one to replace her clunky old HP laptop.

Qantas threatens to cancel Dallas A380 if AA JV fails to get US nod
Feb 27, 2018, 09:40 AMThey service DFW with their biggest plane because it's the only one they have which currently is (was pre 789) able to fly that route direct each way... And I'm assuming better economics than the previous 744

Feb 16, 2018, 03:00 PMGiven his salary is only a few million at best, that's not going to make any difference to capital investment funds. You do know how much a new aircraft costs, right?

Can Qantas afford to buy all the new aircraft it needs?
Feb 16, 2018, 02:58 PMJust go ahead and order the A321Neo. Perfect fit for many legs through to some Asian ports, NZ and TransCon.The A350 will do the long haul.

Qantas eyes Boeing 737 MAX, Boeing 797 for domestic fleet
Oct 16, 2017, 03:30 PMIsn't there an aircraft already suited to TransCon (and TransTasman).... is called the A321 and is available to buy right now.

Boeing 777X for Qantas non-stop London New York flights
Oct 16, 2017, 03:23 PMAJ should be hassling CASA for Cape Town. The A350-1000 already has that range, so long as CASA allows for ETOPS as the Europeans and Americans have.

Boeing 777X for Qantas non-stop London New York flights
Oct 16, 2017, 03:21 PMThe JQ 787 pilots who moved from the A330 were not impressed with their transition.I spoke to a couple of pilots pre-departure when travelling to HKT - they described the 787 as a "pig" in comparison to to the Airbus.

Emirates cuts trans-Tasman flights as Qantas takes over
Oct 11, 2017, 02:27 PMSo QF future strategy might have the 789's replacing the 330's to Asia, and send the 330's trans-cont and trans-Tasman? Have a decent product on those two key routes, perhaps?
-
Qantas eyes non-stop Australia-Europe flights for the Boeing 787
Oct 28, 2016, 02:44 PMIf we are talking long legs, the 777x or 359 (ULR) would be the beasts to have. I certainly can see QF taking the A350 is CASA pull their fingers out for ETOPS 370 as a 744 replacement to Joburg.

Qantas eyes non-stop Australia-Europe flights for the Boeing 787
Oct 28, 2016, 02:42 PMBut Euro flights have generally been better yielding than flights into Asia.

Airbus eyes A350 flights from Australia to Johannesburg, Santiago
Oct 18, 2016, 06:42 PMIt's great that you have an understanding of ETOPS. Not sure of your point though. The idea about the awarding such a limit suggests one engine is quite safe for such a journey.I hope CASA finally accepts what other aviation bodies awards, otherwise by the time QF retires the 747, the Aus to SA r...

Qantas Airbus A380 orders cancellations
Aug 05, 2016, 04:53 PMSounds like it. The FAA and the EASA gave the A350 a 370 minute etops rating... If CASA followed suit, the A350 could easily do SYD to JNB.
