Grab your passport: Japan is once again open to the world
Feb 19, 2022, 02:54 AMJAL appears to only be running NRT-MEL once a week in March and then has discontinued it altogether for April and May. Hopefully some of those flights come back as things open up.

Australian border closure, overseas flight ban to remain until 2021
Sep 16, 2020, 03:20 AMAs a physician who's had one friend lose her father to COVID and another lose his child, I can assure you this virus is definitely not under control and they are not exaggerating the seriousness of it.

Australian border closure, overseas flight ban to remain until 2021
Aug 12, 2020, 04:19 PMI believe if you check that note carefully, you'll find it says "requests", not "requires". That's a small difference that makes a big one.

Here are the best flights to New York which skip that LAX stopover
Jul 19, 2018, 06:07 AMThe only thing stopping Australia from doing this is money.About 85% of the operational costs for these facilities are paid by the host airport, not the US government. In addition, US-bound passengers need to be segregated from other international flights as they have effectively "entered" the U...

Here are the best flights to New York which skip that LAX stopover
Jul 19, 2018, 04:19 AMFrom SYD, AC via YVR is actually about half an hour quicker than QF11 via LAX because of the faster transit. They're running a 789 on the transcontinental flight now too, so no downgrade on that leg. The only catch is they land at EWR instead of JFK.

Marriott downgrades elite status for SPG Gold members
May 12, 2018, 02:58 AMAgreed. Accor Platinum was the one hotel status that actually made me shift business and book directly with the hotel. I used to really enjoy my Sofitel stays, but since I lost Platinum I've booked whatever 5* hotel was most convenient on Hotels.com instead.

Qantas Airbus A380 business class lounge gets cafe-style refresh
Nov 02, 2017, 02:50 PMGreat idea. Swiss has a curtain that lets them partition off the space around door 1L so F passengers can change without the lav acrobatics. It’s such a simple solution that I’m surprised no one else has done it.

What do you want in a business class amenity kit?
Sep 09, 2017, 05:06 AMThe most elaborate kit I ever got was (believe it or not) in Global First on United. The bag itself was a blue United-branded trifold shaving kit with a hook and multiple zippered compartments. In addition to the standard toothbrush, toothpaste, lip balm, earplugs, eyeshade, and socks...

What do you want in a business class amenity kit?
Sep 09, 2017, 04:47 AMI do this as well. Sealed dental kits and shaving supplies are particularly useful I'm told.

Sydney Airport proposes new T4 international terminal
May 31, 2017, 12:54 PMMaintain the 787s at MEL (where they'll primarily be based), the A380s at LAX, and the 737s wherever you like. No need for a major maintenance base at SYD.

Hilton Melbourne South Wharf to become Pan Pacific Melbourne
Mar 11, 2017, 05:00 AMOutside of Australia, Hilton tends to be more of a mid-range 3/4-star brand, so the 5-star South Wharf was a bit of an outlier. My guess is we'll see a Conrad open in Melbourne at some point instead.

First photos: Qantas Boeing 787 premium economy seats
Feb 23, 2017, 10:13 AMFinally someone has figured out that you can create extra seat width just by lowering the outer armrests! I don't know why this isn't a standard feature, especially in economy where every cm counts.

Virgin Australia enters codeshare partnership with Air Canada
Dec 17, 2016, 02:47 AMAeroplan miles are actually pretty useful outside of Australia, although they've been "enhanced" over the last few years. Don't count on redeeming for AC's trans-Pacific flights though - award space is pretty limited.

Virgin Australia enters codeshare partnership with Air Canada
Dec 17, 2016, 02:43 AMDelta doesn't fly to Montreal or Vancouver from LAX. The best you can do is a codeshare on WestJet.
