Qantas launches Classic Plus Flight Rewards; bookings now open
Apr 08, 2024, 11:22 AMI predict the demise of the old Classic option in 1-2 years. We'll be told something like it no longer suits the majority of customers. Of course it won't, because the plan will be progessive withdrawal of available Classic seats.

Air New Zealand brings back Wamos Air on Auckland-Perth
Dec 13, 2023, 04:04 PMIt's a bit rich that PE will be "reaccommodated" into Y, even with a fare adjustment. Some people don't want Y, which is how come they book PE. Money back if requested is the only fair process. Not a credit, money back.

Four of the world’s best daytime scenic luxury train trips
Nov 06, 2023, 10:22 AMA word of advice about the TranzAlpine train. There is no prior seat selection, even in the higher grade Scenic Plus class (which by no means is anything like First on say the Glacier Express). Allocation is on the day. Some seats are airline style pairing, others are four at a table. The latter ...

What makes a great hotel room for business travellers?
Nov 02, 2023, 09:40 AMAgree with PCHammond, comfortable bed. That includes pillows. Not foam slabs like bricks. Not cheap feathers that rustle in your ear all night. OK, first world issues but that's the quality we should expect in a good business hotel.

What makes a great hotel room for business travellers?
Nov 02, 2023, 09:35 AMThe caveat about Chromecast etc is of course the wi-fi. No-one wants constant buffering interrupting their entetainment but that will always happen on poor hotel wi-fi. Another reason to pick a hotel with decent data speed. Even then, don't expect HD to work without issues, set for SD viewing.

Finnair backtracks on cuts to luggage allowance
Aug 07, 2023, 11:08 AMIs this just Finnair or are we about see all the others do it too? Making it retrospective to apply to already bought tickets is a) insulting and b) may be a breach of contract. Anyway, Finnair has obviously embraced the Ryanair doctine - if you can make the punters pay more then do it and ...

This airline app lets you track your luggage on and off a flight
May 11, 2023, 09:11 AMI like the "peace of mind" aspect and app-based reporting of lost bags. But, if your bags ain't where they should be you're still going to be shafted.

Bait and switch: should you be compensated for an inferior seat?
Mar 15, 2023, 10:20 AMIf anyone affected by a substitution is planning to make a similar claim they'll need to have evidence of how often the substitution occurs. For example, if say 80% of flights SYD-PER promoted as a330 are actually downgraded to 738 then a good case can be made - as the NZ adjudicator said, it was...

Qantas pushes for Sydney Airport mega-terminal
Oct 25, 2022, 10:32 AMThe Qantas plan seems to be based on the belief that QF to QF transfers are more important than any others. Certainly there are many such, but it's a fairly selfish view of how an airport should be run. I'm with those who are saying improve inter-terminal connections.
