• I use a Citizen Skyhawk for my international & domestic travels. All I need to know is the time zone and daylight savings occurrence. Input this into the watch and it gives me local and home times. The Citizen cost thousands less than a Rolex, never needs winding or a battery. I also have a R...

  • None compensates for daylight savings or mountain time. I have a Citizen Eco Worldtimer that adjusts easily for DST, has 43 inbuilt cities and automatically adjusts on certain radio signals. Only $230 and waterproof to 200m.

  • We have done the Vancouver-Banff-Jasper-Vancouver loop in April many years ago using a Subaru Outback. Lots of snow and incredible mountain views and passes. Stayed in lodges and B&B's.

Our Amex Velocity Platinum is adding up points nicely. Will be interested to see if we get the bonus status credits.

I still use my CBA black combo as it is totally fee free and has good travel insurance. However as its FF points have become crap I use it spasmodically alongside an AMEX platinum. As I only fly business class lounge access is not a selling point.

Totally disappointed with the CBA changes. I still use the CBA Amex for travel insurance but now use an AMEX Velocity platinum for most other expenses. Accruing Virgin points at a rapid rate.

I have a fee free CBA Black card which used to give reasonable QF points and a high credit limit. Not anymore. I will still use it overseas but have obtained an AMEX Platinum card for local use, but its credit limit is currently to low for some transactions.

  • I am quite aware of the difference between CBA reward points and frequent flyer points. On my last two statements I earned 8556 QF points on a $4695 spend and 17600 QF points on a $8609 spend. These equate to roughly 1.5-2 ff points/dollar spend as I stated. A recent statement from the bank says ...

  • I have a CBA black combo which gives 1.5-2.0 points/dollar, no annual fees (I have a wealth package) and no international transaction fees. Why is this card not mentioned?

  • I use an AussiePost prepaid sim+. This keeps the same number no matter where I am in the world. Data charge is high but I then use free hotel wifi for this. It works fine for short phone calls and is excellent for sms. Coverage is very good worldwide.

  • I have a CBA Black combo Amex/MasterCard. As a wealth client I have minimal fees. On an average $4000/month spend I get 12,000 QF points. This seems a good deal of 3 points/$ compared to other cards.

  • The Emirates bar certainly helps in-flight socialising and makes a mundane long-haul flight interesting. Better than the seat companion droning on with little chance of escaping the drone.
