• That's really strange - I was on an A380 from HKG to SYD this Monday just gone. Was in 2F (my preferred seat under the stairs) and service was J but we still had the proper F mattresses fitted for us.

  • Has it been only a recent development that the 15 minute treatments are extended to Qantas Platinum members? I've asked on some previous transits through and the spa staff have always refused. I'll be passing through tomorrow, and would really like to be able to take advantage of a body stretch i...

  • It's been years since I've had to fill in the form. Crossing via train, bus, and walking across several checkpoints from Canada to the US since 2012, forms have not been necessary. I've noted the CBP website does state that they are required, but that's not been my experience in practice for quit...

  • Sorry if you already realise this, Libertyscott, but it's not that QF have named the dish Chairman Mao's pork. It's a well-regarded dish both in and outside of China. My Chinese friends have taken me out for meals in different Chinese cities and proudly ordered the dish, saying that if it was Mao...

  • Hmm I'm still confused. As a QF Platinum FF, I've been granted acces to the EK lounge in Johannesburg when flying on an EK ticket in Y. Has this been a mistake in the past?

  • I'm going through the earning tables and it looks like there will be some sectors that lose out, but I also think there are going to be quite a few sweet spots that we'll be able to explore and exploit over time.

  • Yes! This is a huge incentive for me to pick Emirates flights over Qantas flights even on routes that are also served by Qantas. I was sitting on 0% opups from Qantas internationally but now somewhere between 66-75% on Emirates flights.

  • I had to apply for a new ESTA this week - it was only USD14 (maybe the article meant to suggest the price was approx AUD16 rather than USD16). Either way, it's cheap.

  • It depends on what airport you're flying from, and whether you're talking about domestic or international flights. Provide a little more information and I'm sure we'll be able to assist :-)

  • There are some great outlets to spend that US$50 now that TBIT has been developed and is no longer the awful terminal it once was. Obviously the loss of showers would be a huge disadvantage.

  • I wouldn't imagine so, Jared. On domestic US flights that operated after the regulations changed, but before individual airline policies had changed, flight attendants said something along the lines of "Many of you know that you will soon be able to use your devices. However, our policy will not ...

  • hahah I'd normally agree but if you read the article, you'll find that this is an exceprt from another publication. It's not something written for AusBT.

It's not such a bad lounge - it's nice and airy and light (unlike the EK or QF lounges), it has good dumplings, and the multi level design increases the feeling of space.

  • Looks sexy - would love to fly it. If only they were part of an alliance. Another huge benefit is that they don't serve alcohol - meaning your flight is more likely to be loud-bogan-free!

  • I would say that the 717 is better than the other planes on the route but I guess that it just depends on personal preferences. Sitting near the back of a 717 is a lovely experience - the different centre of gravity feels nice and smooth on take-off and landing. Again, just depends on preferences...
