Review:
May 31, 2019, 03:57 PMPaid big $ for a suite, and as others have indicated service is impersonal or non-existent. Room was great but otherwise could have been at a Holiday Inn. Express check-in an absolute joke, goodness knows what normal check-in is like. Can say I've been, had a swim in that pool, but won't be back.

Singapore Airlines upgrades business class on Perth-Singapore flights
May 01, 2019, 03:16 PMThat still leaves us with crappy 777-200 on SQ214 and 223. Nothing worse than getting on the latter after a long haul into Singapore - worn out hard product and usually a second tier cabin crew as well.

Qatar Airways swaps Perth's Airbus A380 for Boeing 777 with Qsuites
Mar 02, 2019, 11:30 AMFlew that route back in Nov, and 20 or 30 mins relaxing in the bar certainly made the flight much more enjoyable. Will miss it.

Singapore Airlines increases KrisFlyer redemption rates
Jan 04, 2019, 02:48 PMWhat disappointed me was the way, at the very end of the email, the "Adjustments" (i.e. Redemption rate increases) were mentioned. Nothing like trying to hide bad news in what was an otherwise good news message.

Accor's new Orient Express hotel brand is all about unabashed luxury
Dec 21, 2018, 02:27 PMInteresting given that Belmond, who run the train, have their own range of luxury hotels. I assume Accor have the rights to use the Orient Express name?

Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer cuts Virgin Australia Velocity transfer rate
Oct 17, 2018, 03:52 PMThe other side to this is that it seems to be increasingly difficult to acquire KF Miles from credit card spend. I stopped using my Westpac KF card after removal of the companion Amex left the Visa earning 0.5 miles/$. Moved to velocity which effectively earns 0.74 miles/$. This change now reduce...

Get up to 40% bonus Velocity Points in this month's transfer promotion
May 02, 2018, 05:45 PMActually reading it again I think it's really two separate offers - a flat 20% from ANZ, Flybuys, and some hotels, and a tiered 15-40% from certain other credit card point transfers.

Get up to 40% bonus Velocity Points in this month's transfer promotion
May 02, 2018, 03:13 PMAm I missing something? Text says "The standard bonus is 20%" but it's only the normal 15% up to 100,000 points according to the table.

Westpac opens new American Express cards to the public
Apr 27, 2018, 04:29 PMSo let's see, Westpac took away my companion AMEX, didn't change the annual fee, and now want me to pay more to get the AMEX back??Sorry, already decided Westpac card no longer worth its annual fee given poor earn rate. Much better options with AMEX directly.

Apr 27, 2018, 04:22 PMJust a heads up to check that your Virgin Money High Flyer lounge passes actually appear in your Velocity Account.I'm well past both the activation anniversary and payment of the annual fee and nothing has appeared. Had to chase up with Virgin Money - apparently they should now appear in 7 - 10 ...

Westpac to stop directly-issuing American Express credit cards
Nov 03, 2017, 03:14 PMInteresting, I have a Westpac SQ/Krisflyer Visa with companion Amex, which of course is no longer available. The Amex is still earning 1.25 miles/$ having come down from 1.5 back in about 2015.Definately a matter of wait and see - I can't see Amex offering KF miles, and I wonder what Westpac will...
