Qantas to replace A330s with Airbus A350s, Boeing 787s
Aug 24, 2023, 05:41 PMBut a number of those 787s are getting pretty old now (maybe not by Qantas' standards) so an airline that is in a fleet rejuvenation program would be looking at turning them over. Recall at at one stage Qantas was an all-Boeing airline and that did not seem to bother them from the perspective of ...

Qantas to replace A330s with Airbus A350s, Boeing 787s
Aug 24, 2023, 12:58 PMWould it not make sense to forget buying more 787s and move to an all-A350 wide body fleet. There would be greater commonality, easier to swap aircraft, no need to have crews endorsed on to separate brands of aircraft, maintenance, spares etc etc?

Review: the Qantas A380 upper deck lounge
Mar 10, 2023, 05:53 PMI get where the staff are coming from - on an overnight you don't want people tramping around the cabin disturbing people trying to sleep so the less incentive there is to move around the better.

Up close with Qantas’ luxurious new A350 first class suites
Mar 08, 2023, 04:25 PMIt’s not private enough with the very low walls. The new Lufthansa/Swiss privacy is better.

Virgin Australia launches Cairns–Tokyo flights
Dec 16, 2022, 06:01 PMSo Copa Airlines - a low cost carrier - has lie flats in their MAXs.JetBlue Mint - another low cost carrier - has lie flats in their narrow bodies (albeit A321s, but similar operating economics). So these airlines have obviously put up a business case that stacks up, to have their executives...

Virgin Australia launches Cairns–Tokyo flights
Dec 14, 2022, 03:49 PMVirgin can strategise until the cows come home, but they won't get me as a customer on an overnight flight unless they have a proper lie flat seat. Several other airlines, including 'low' and 'moderate' cost carriers can and do do it in the MAXs.

Qantas A321XLR guide: delivery, business class & more [2023]
Jul 29, 2022, 03:26 PMThis is a bad move for us passengers. If QF have a mix some of the same aircraft type with lie flats and some with recliners, then sure as eggs you will have booked on an overnight back from Asia on a lie flat only to find they have swapped aircraft for one with recliners. SQ have the right idea ...

Review: Singapore Airlines Boeing 737 MAX business class
Jul 15, 2022, 04:20 PMSets the bar for south east Asia and Australia. If Qantas don't match it with lie flats on the A321 guess who I'm flying with.

This new Vantage Duo seat is ideal for Qantas’ next-gen business class
Jun 08, 2022, 03:38 PMReeves - putting aside the part about widebody aircraft, these aircraft will be used outside Australia's borders and will be used for overnight flights, usually back to Australia, where lie flat seats are nonnegotiable. I agree not needed for daylight flights, but these planes will be doing a lot...
