New Airbus A321neo business class seat is like a first class suite
Oct 26, 2020, 06:14 PMThe Stelia Opera is beautiful but the seat pitch is 38" whereas the Vantage Solo is 33." The Vantage Solo also has the ability to provide 2 First Class suites with no LOPA penalty. Not to mention most First and Business guests want to work or sleep, not look out the window. Also, Opera makes paire...

When will Virgin Australia swoop on new Boeing 787 jets?
Sep 15, 2020, 11:42 AMI think Virgin should reallocate the MAX deposits towards the 787s. When it comes to replacing the narrowbody fleet down the line, I'd suggest they switch to A220s. That would allow them to provide a substantial improvement over QF's narrowbody hard product, and allow them to serve a wider variet...

Alan Joyce buckles in for a second Qantas turnaround
Jun 26, 2020, 05:13 PMYou raise a compelling point but here's the problem:With Project Sunrise, QF is in the position to offer a unique product that no other airline would want to (the Euro airlines have no reason to buy small subfleets of aircraft capable of reaching Oz nonstop).Even if they effectively leave the int...

Bain's vision for Virgin Australia 2.0: so what's a 'hybrid' airline?
Jun 26, 2020, 04:51 PMJust make VOz the JetBlue of Australia. That will work perfectly fine. Better than Jetstar, not as corporate-focused as QF, and providing an humane flying experience. It really is that simple and that easy. Also, I'd like if they look into having an A220-based fleet but that's not very likely. Sti...

Review:
Jul 19, 2019, 10:35 PMI agree this lounge is disappointing (I was there recently). PAL have been investing and upgrading, so surely an investment/upgrade of their flagship lounge is in the planning stages. But they should get onto it quickly.

Cathay Pacific's new regional business class to launch early 2020
Jul 12, 2019, 04:38 PMI wonder how likely it is that Cathay will use the HAECO Eclipse for their regional business class (and Cathay Dragon Business)? It would make sense I think.

ANA reveals new Boeing 777-300ER first class, business class suites
Jul 11, 2019, 09:23 PMThe business class appears to be the Safran "Fusio" suite model. Qatar's Qsuite has the same basic layout but I think its a custom product.

Review:
May 21, 2019, 12:52 PMI've been here myself. Its a fantastic hotel. The rooms are excellent, the architecture and views are wonderful, and the location is immensely convenient. Its also the cheapest 5-star hotel in Tokyo and easily the best value.

American opens Dallas DFW Flagship First Lounge for Qantas passengers
May 17, 2019, 06:14 PMIts good to see AA and the other American major carriers are really investing in their products. If only AA's short haul onboard experience weren't so atrociously compromised.

Review: Philippine Airlines Airbus A321neo business class Brisbane-Manila
May 13, 2019, 11:56 PMI'll be taking these flights in a few weeks so the review is very helpful! It seems to me that PAL are really developing quite positively.

Qantas 787: Qantas Upgrades Sydney-San Francisco to Boeing 787
May 08, 2019, 12:45 PMEconomy passengers lose 0.3inches of width, but gain 1 inch in pitch, as well as get a newer seat, plus the Dreamliner's cabin humidity benefits and lower noise etc.It seems to me like a SLIGHT upgrade, except for those with short-and-portly builds.

Virgin Australia new Boeing 737 MAX domestic transcon business class
May 03, 2019, 02:21 PMThis would be sad if true. Virgin would be a perfect carrier for something like JetBlue's mint, especially when they phase out those aging and too-much-plane A330-200s.

Fiji Airways Airbus A350 flights to Sydney, Los Angeles from Jan 2020
May 02, 2019, 03:19 PMI'm surprised they went with the A350. I'd have thought the A330neo would've given them all the range they'd need and at a lower acquisition cost.Maybe their USA routes are going very well and they need the additional capacity? That said, their longest route is <9000km so I wonder why they did...

Cathay Pacific is axing Cairns-Hong Kong flights from October
Apr 26, 2019, 10:11 PMThis is what I expect too. A321neo (doesn't necessarily have to be an LR; I don't think the range is necessary) on Cathay Dragon would be the better alternative.

Should Qantas' Project Sunrise business class seats have doors?
Apr 12, 2019, 02:54 PMSome business travellers need the doors if they're working on something that requires confidentiality. So as such, the door is useful for them. But honestly I don't see the door as vital for privacy. Generous privacy shields work well enough to provide a highly private experience. Doors are only r...
